I probably didn’t make many friends with my last post. But it was a confession, and I guess those don’t usually make us look very good. Forgive me my faults. I have others too.
Like swearing. A few weeks ago Maren was playing with her glitter pens and busted a lid off of one. She threw it and said “Buck!” I asked,” Mar, what did you say? “Buck” she said clearly. “When I’m really mad I have to say that word.”
I decided not to correct her on this one.
Which reminds me of another little conversation we had recently.
We were running late for school, Violet had a messy diaper and was screaming to eat. I sat down to feed her and she kept tossing her bottle. I was annoyed and grumbled at her. I didn’t say buck or anything, but my irritation was evident.
Maren approaches me and comes within 2 inches of my face and says, “Mom, you really need to start working on your patience.” Quite humbling when a three year old reminds you of this.
Happy 33rd Birthday to our Main Squeeze Jim-Dad.

patience…i was FAR more patient prior to having kids. funny thing, though, people still think i’m patient and i try to tell them i’m not. kids pick up on things FAST. i’ve had to change a number of things to ensure that they wouldn’t start my bad habits. i’m sure they’ve gotten some anyhow.
