My sister has been staying with us while she job hunts. She’s a recent college grad and has been met with the wonderful welcome-to-the-job-world red carpet that someone forgot to throw out for her. Someone get on that please. She’s fun, hard-working, and level headed. If you need an event planner/public affairs girl, call, would ya? Maren is in Cool Aunt Heaven. Aunt B wears tank tops that have fake bling, has lots of belts and high heels, and will do puzzles and sit and play restaurant for hours. Which makes her much cooler than me. Plus she helps me make dinner and cleans this house. There is going to be more than one sad puppy here when she leaves.
I have lots of things to share. I have been a busy lady. Which means I have been up way too late. It’s been so cool to have someone to stay up with at night. Sometimes I sew and B gives her opinions. Which are way different than mine. Take this birthday crown I am making for Maren. This is one of two new Birthday traditions we are starting here. The crown will be worn on her birthday and then kept safe in the attic until next year. I had plans of making it in red, with a very Swiss looking ribbon with little petite hearts. Very 1950’s. B insisted it should look festive and like a celebration hat. Which is how we ended up with this. I sewed four buttons on, one for each year of Maren’s life and every year thereafter I’ll sew another. I’d have never, ever put these colors and ribbon together, but somehow it works well and I’m sure it will suit my soon to be 4 YEAR OLD. In 4 days, she’s 4.
Last night was a full moon, so Violet was up from 12:30-2. Wide AWAKE. At one point I shook Jim and yelled, “Mark my words, I am NEVER having another baby!” I am still a little freaky about this kid and her quirks, but when she was up and acting possessed, I ran to the window that faces southeast and sure enough….

That is a beautiful photo. I’m so glad you cut your hair, now everyone can see how beautiful your face is. How’s that for sunshine. Can we borrow Betsy?

Emma gives shout outs to random people all the time! It used to be calling all the men daddy, but now it is usually just a very loud and ecstatic hi.
The crown is a great idea. One I might try myself. Well, I’ll buy the things, cut the pieces out and send them to mom’s to sew, as I haven’t got that skill set yet. Super good idea with the buttons every year. How did you make it so it will fit every year? Elastic?? And 4 already??? The time goes by so fast. I hope you have a great celebration!
No hacks that I can think of. I am getting a lot of ideas from this site though…http://chasingcheerios.blogspot.com/ I have even made a few of these activities myself.

You and your sister are gorgeous. Not to mention your girls. What a nice photo.
Full moon baby trouble here too. Last 2 nights Emma has gotten up 2 or 3 times. I said the same thing to Randy that you said to Jim
