It’s not hot out right now.

I’m reaching deep into the Bag O’ Mom tricks and coming up with very little. Kids need to run and play outside. When it’s a wind chill of -40 below, one must keep one’s sanity by making it through the day until Daddy gets home.
I saw an ice wreath before Christmas and had intentions of making one with Mar but never got to it. We did this yesterday and believe me, it took no time for it to freeze over.
Just find a cake pan and some leftover food to slice and throw in. I used Non-Stick Spray on the pan but I’m not sure that was necessary.
We used an old orange that was beyond human consumption. Cherries or strawberries would be cute for Valentine’s day. We learned quickly that it’s helpful to put a jelly roll pan under the circle cake pan to prevent spilling all over the floor. Set it outside to freeze. When it’s frozen through, bring it inside and immerse the bottom of the pan in warm water. Pop out your O-shaped ice hunk. Tie a sturdy ribbon through for hanging. We hung ours outside on the mailbox.
Check out these wreaths for even better inspiration. Beautiful! I think the best feature of this project is that it’s pretty and easy with no clean-up. I think we’ll try this again today but maybe add some of those little trinkets and toys that I find in the couch cushions, like plastic spiders and marbles.

Cute! I’ll have to put this on file for next year. I gave Em some dried beans yesterday to dump in and out of cups and other misc. items. She did it for over an hour. Might be worth the clean-up?? Can’t wait for the warm weather!
